Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information SlatePDF ("we", "us"), operated from Austin, Texas, collects when you use pdf.joverwk2026.org and how it is used. The short version: your documents stay on your device for every free tool, we keep very little about you, and we never sell data.
1. Documents you open with free tools
The PDF editor, Create, Protect and Unlock tools run in your browser. The PDF files you choose, the passwords you type and the edits you make are processed locally on your device and are not transmitted to our servers. We have no access to them.
2. Files you upload to Pro tools
Merge, Split, Compress and Images to PDF send the files you select to our server over an encrypted HTTPS connection. They are processed in memory, the result is returned to your browser, and the files are discarded when the request ends. They are not written to disk, backed up, logged, inspected or used for any other purpose. PDF to images runs on your device.
3. Account information
If you create an account we store your email address, a bcrypt hash of your password (never the password itself), the date you signed up, session identifiers that keep you logged in (stored as hashes), and your subscription status. You can delete your account at any time from the Account page; this removes these records immediately, except billing records that Stripe must keep for tax and accounting.
4. Payments
When card billing is live, Pro subscriptions are processed by Stripe. Your card details go directly to Stripe and are never seen or stored by SlatePDF. We receive your Stripe customer ID, subscription status and renewal date so we can switch Pro on or off. In test mode (checkout labeled “Test mode — no real charge”) no payment processor is involved: the test card number you see is not stored or sent anywhere, and we keep only your plan status and its end date.
5. Usage counters
To enforce free daily limits we count how many times Protect and Unlock are used per day. For logged-in users the count is tied to the account; for visitors without an account it is tied to a one-way hash of the IP address. Counters are deleted after 7 days.
6. Server logs
Like nearly every website, our web server records standard access logs: IP address, requested URL, date and time, browser user-agent and referring page. We use them to keep the service secure, diagnose errors and count visits. Logs are kept for no longer than 90 days.
7. Cookies
We set one cookie, sid, only when you log in. It is strictly necessary to keep you signed in and expires after 30 days or when you log out. We use no advertising, analytics or third-party tracking cookies, and no third-party scripts are loaded on the site. Stripe sets its own cookies on its checkout and billing pages.
8. Sharing
We do not sell or rent personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share data only with Stripe (payments), our hosting provider (which stores the server and its database), or when required by law.
9. Your rights, including California residents
You can access, correct or delete your personal information, and opt out of any sale or sharing (we do neither). Residents of California, Colorado, Virginia, Texas and other states with privacy laws have these rights under those laws. Use the Account page or email support@pdf.joverwk2026.org; we respond within 30 days and will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
10. Children
SlatePDF is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. Accounts are for users 13 and older; Pro purchases require an adult.
11. Security
All traffic uses HTTPS. Passwords are hashed with bcrypt. Access to the server is restricted. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but local processing of documents means the most sensitive data never reaches us in the first place.
12. Changes and contact
