Merge, split, compress and convert PDFs
The SlatePDF Pro toolkit: combine files, pull pages apart, slim down bloated exports, and move between images and PDF. Files are processed in memory and never stored.
Merge PDFs
How to use the Convert tools
- Pick a tool from the tabs above. You need to be logged in with an active Pro plan; the page tells you if you aren't.
- Add your files. For Merge and Images to PDF, the list order is the page order — use the arrows to rearrange or ✕ to remove a file.
- Set options such as split ranges, page size or image resolution.
- Run it. The result downloads automatically: a PDF for Merge, Compress and Images to PDF, a ZIP for Split and PDF to images.
Examples
- Apartment application: merge your ID scan, three pay stubs and a bank letter into one PDF the leasing office can open in one click.
- Court filing: split a 60-page scan into Exhibit A (pages 1–12), Exhibit B (13–40) and Exhibit C (41–60) with ranges
1-12, 13-40, 41-. - Receipts for expenses: select phone photos of receipts and turn them into one Letter-size PDF for your expense report.
- Slides for social media: convert a presentation PDF to 150 dpi JPGs for LinkedIn or Instagram carousels.
- Email size limits: compress an exported report before attaching it to Gmail (25 MB limit) or Outlook (20 MB).
Privacy
Merge, split, compress and images-to-PDF send your files to our server over HTTPS because they need more memory than a phone browser reliably has. They are processed in RAM and discarded the moment the response is sent — never written to disk, never logged. PDF to images and every free tool (editor, Protect, Unlock) run entirely on your device.
Frequently asked questions
Why are merge, split, compress and conversions Pro features?
These jobs are processed on our server, which costs us compute for every file. Pro ($7.99/month) covers that and keeps the core editor, Protect and Unlock free for everyone. PDF to image conversion runs in your browser but is bundled with the Pro tools.
Do you keep the files I upload for merging or splitting?
No. Files are processed in memory, the result is streamed straight back to your browser, and nothing is written to disk or logged. The upload is encrypted with HTTPS.
How much does Compress PDF shrink a file?
Compress PDF rebuilds the file losslessly: it drops unused objects and metadata and packs the structure into compressed streams. Files exported by scanners, Word or older software often shrink 10–40%; files that are already optimized may not change, in which case you get the original back. Image quality is never reduced.
Which image formats can be turned into a PDF?
JPG and PNG are embedded directly. WebP, GIF and HEIC photos from newer iPhones are converted to PNG in your browser first where the browser supports them. Each image becomes one page, in the order you select.
Can I split a PDF into individual pages?
Yes. Choose "Every page" to get one PDF per page, or type ranges like 1-3, 4, 7-10 to get one file per range. The results download together as a ZIP file.
What are the size limits?
Server-processed tools accept up to 60 MB per request. PDF to image runs on your device and handles files up to 200 MB.
